Most speakers can't reproduce the bottom octave at all.
Phones, laptops and car systems roll off long before 60 Hz, so a sub that sounds enormous in the studio disappears entirely. H-BASS generates harmonics above the fundamental, and because your ear reconstructs a missing note from its harmonic series, the part still reads as bass on speakers that never played the note.
Frequency, intensity, output
Frequency sets the range H-BASS works from, between 32 Hz and 256 Hz. Set it around the fundamental of your bass, then gradually raise Intensity to add harmonics. A clean sub may only need a small amount to make the notes easier to follow on smaller speakers. Use Output to match the processed and original levels, so you can judge the added definition without being influenced by a volume increase.
Original, harmonics, output
The meters show the original bass, the added harmonics and the final output, helping you keep track of levels as you adjust the processing. Switch off Original bass in to hear the harmonics on their own. This can be useful when another layer already provides the sub and you want this part to add definition higher up without doubling the deepest frequencies.
